The Role
SPIN Forward is a cohort-based STEM program for 6th–10th grade girls and gender-expansive youth, centering students of color in King County. Throughout the school year, participants engage in Field and Lab Days, present a Capstone Project, and can attend an optional Summer Retreat. Students are supported by women and gender-expansive adult mentors of color who are retired from, currently working in, or studying STEM fields.
As a mentor, you can have a meaningful impact on our students’ personal, academic, and professional journeys. You can be a source of guidance, growth, and connection—helping young people access opportunities that foster both social and economic mobility. When we invest in young people, the positive effects extend far beyond the individual, creating ripples that benefit families and communities for generations.
